European Oak Flooring Oak Norwich
Oak Norwich is a dark oak with a pronounced wire-brushed texture, and on a colour this deep that texture is the most important thing about it. Brushing wears away the soft spring grain and leaves the hard summer grain standing proud, so light striking the floor is broken into fine lines rather than returned as a sheet. A dark floor treated this way keeps its colour under downlights, shows its grain in daylight, and quietly hides the dust that a smooth dark floor would display.
The colour itself is a deep brown with warmth held in the base, and Rustic grading with medium variation gives it real depth from board to board.
The finish is UV-cured oil, cured into the fibres rather than over them, which preserves the openness of the brushed grain instead of filling it. Boards are 7 1/2″ wide, 74 3/4″ random lengths, 5/8″ engineered, with a 4 mm wear layer.
A textured dark floor of this kind is the natural ground for rooms built on contrast — pale plaster, white marble, glass and bronze.
