Oak Alpes is a grey-toned European oak on a 9 1/2″ wide plank — the colour of weathered alpine timber, cool and clear, with the warmth of oak still holding underneath.
Grey works particularly well at this width because a wide board gives the tone room to breathe; the floor reads as a continuous stone-like surface rather than as a series of grey planks. Rustic grading keeps knots, streaks and figure in the timber so the grey has structure to sit in, and medium variation lets the tone move gently from board to board.
The finish is UV-cured oil, which cures into the top fibres of the wood rather than forming a film above them. The surface stays open, matt and unmistakably timber — the reason an oiled grey never looks painted. The wire-brushed texture deepens the effect, and the 5/8″ engineered board carries a 3 mm wear layer.
