The darkest colour in the Belgian programme: a near-black brown with the warm chestnut undertone that keeps it from ever reading as paint. The reactive stain works with the tannin in French oak, so the depth is built in the timber and the grain stays legible through it.
The colour is produced in three ranges. Heavily and authentically wire-brushed, undulated, deeply marked and rounded at the edges, Range 1 highlights the veins of the oak in a curved pattern of the utmost luxury. Very lightly brushed, planed and consistent, Range 2 gives a contemporary surface that preserves the authenticity of the colour. Aged and distressed, with chipped edges, shade differences, colour accents and discoloration around the knots, Range 3 makes every plank an individual piece.
Thickness is 5/8″ or 3/4″, solid or engineered, over a 5–8 mm wear layer. Widths run 5″–12″ in fixed or random layout and lengths 6′–10′, cut as straight plank, chevron, herringbone or Versailles panel.
Specified for libraries, private dining rooms, panelled studies and dramatic entrance halls, and for contemporary interiors where a very dark floor is set against light stone and plaster.
