A light brown with the colour deliberately washed back, so the timber shows through the tone rather than sitting beneath it. The reactive stain reacts with the oak’s tannin, and washing out the surface leaves the colour strongest in the grain and softest on the face — the look of a floor that has been scrubbed pale over generations.
It is made in three ranges. Range 1: an authentic, heavy wire-brushing, undulated, with deeper marks and rounded edges, so the veins of the oak are highlighted in a curved pattern of the utmost luxury. Range 2: a very light brushing only, planed and consistent, contemporary, and completely faithful to the colour. Range 3: aged and distressed, chipped at the edges, with shade differences, colour accents and discoloration around the knots that give each plank a character entirely its own.
The format is open — straight plank, chevron, herringbone or Versailles panel, 5″ to 12″ wide, fixed or random, 6′ to 10′ long, 5/8″ or 3/4″ thick in solid or engineered construction, with a 5–8 mm wear layer.
It suits country houses, converted farm buildings and relaxed contemporary interiors, and it is a natural partner to limestone, linen and unpolished brass.
