Argile is clay, and the colour behaves like it: an earthy grey-brown that changes weight with the light — dry and dusty in the morning, considerably deeper by evening. It is the tone to reach for when a dark floor is wanted but black or espresso would be too absolute.
Laid in 8 3/4″ boards at Light Rustic grade, the floor keeps the knots and mineral streaking that give a clay tone its dustiness. On a board this wide that is a deliberate pairing: the width reads contemporary, the grade reads weathered, and together they produce a floor that is difficult to date.
Each board runs to 78″ in random lengths on a 5/8″ engineered core, with a generous 5 mm wear layer that leaves real material for refinishing over the decades. The surface is a matt lacquer with micro-beveled edges.
Oak Argile is used in dining rooms, studies and hospitality interiors where the floor should sit heavier than the walls. Against pale plaster and bronze it becomes distinctly architectural; against warm timber joinery it softens considerably.
