Byblos was one of the great timber ports of the ancient Mediterranean, and the floor that carries the name is fittingly serious: a dark European oak on a 9 1/2″ wide plank, long-boarded and low in sheen.

The depth of colour is carried by the timber rather than laid over it. Rustic grading keeps every knot, mineral streak and burst of cathedral figure in the board, and against a dark tone those marks surface as shadow, giving the eye somewhere to travel across a large floor. Medium variation keeps the planks distinct from one another.

A UV-cured oil finish cures within the top fibres of the wood, leaving an open, matt surface with almost no reflectance — the treatment that lets a dark floor look like timber rather than lacquer. The wire-brushed texture reinforces it, over a 5/8″ engineered core with a 3 mm wear layer.
