Oak Bali is a white-toned European oak in which the colour has been taken into the wire-brushed grain rather than laid over the surface. The result is a floor that reads white from standing height and clearly reads oak from close to — the brushed texture holds the pale pigment in the open grain and lets the harder grain stay a shade warmer.

That interplay is what the finest white oak floors are built on. Here the wire-brushed surface gives the white something to sit in, and Select ABC grading supplies just enough knot and figure to keep the plane alive across a 10 1/4″ board.

The finish is polyurethane with aluminium oxide — a matt, highly resilient coating that keeps a white floor looking deliberate rather than delicate. Boards run to 86 5/8″ over a 5/8″ engineered core with a 4 mm wear layer.

It belongs in bright coastal and resort-inspired interiors, in white-plaster and limestone architecture, and in rooms furnished in linen, rattan and pale bronze, where the floor is meant to extend the light rather than interrupt it.
