French Oak Flooring Oak Saphir Select
Oak Saphir is a cool grey with a blue cast held deep in the grain — the reason it is named for the stone rather than for a colour. In north light it reads almost slate; in warm evening light the blue recedes and leaves a soft pewter. Very few oak floors hold a cool tone with this much depth, and the 8 3/4″ board gives it room to show.
The Select grade is deliberate. A cool grey shows every knot clearly, so sorting the boards is what allows the blue to read as one continuous field across a room rather than as a series of separate boards. Sapwood is removed and shade movement kept low.
Boards run 8 3/4″ wide in 78″ random lengths on a 5/8″ engineered core, with a generous 5 mm wear layer and a matt lacquer urethane surface.
Oak Saphir Select is specified for contemporary interiors working with concrete, blackened steel and glass, and for high-floor apartments where daylight is cool and constant. Against honed marble and brushed nickel it is one of the most architectural floors in the collection.
