Oak Sorrento is a natural-toned European oak built on a 9/16″ engineered board — a construction worth understanding, because it is what allows a real oak floor to be laid where a solid one could not.
An engineered board is built in layers, with the oak wear surface bonded across a stable core. The cross-lamination resists the seasonal movement that makes solid timber cup and gap, which is why engineered construction is specified over radiant heat, in apartments above grade, and in coastal and humid climates. The 3 mm wear layer is real oak, sandable and refinishable in the ordinary way.
Above that, the floor gives nothing away: Rustic grading with full knots and figure, medium variation for genuine tonal movement, a wire-brushed surface and a matt polyurethane with aluminium oxide finish. Boards are 7 1/2″ wide in 74 3/4″ random lengths.
