The engineered construction is the reason. The oak wear surface is bonded across a cross-laid core, which resists the seasonal movement that makes solid timber cup and gap. That is what allows a real oak floor to be laid over radiant heating, in an apartment above grade, or in a coastal climate. The 3 mm wear layer is solid oak, sandable and refinishable in the ordinary way. At 9/16″, the board also suits refurbishments where floor build-up and door heights are already fixed.
Above that, the floor gives nothing up: Rustic grading with full knots and figure, medium variation for real tonal movement, a timeworn-brushed surface and a UV-cured oil finish that cures into the timber rather than over it.
