French Oak Flooring Oak Cuir

Cuir is leather, and the floor reads like it: a tan brown with a reddish undertone that deepens rather than dulls as it catches the light. It is the warmest colour in the French oak range and the one that behaves most like a material with a patina rather than a finish.

Light Rustic grade suits it precisely. Leather is not uniform, and neither is this floor — knots and shade variation are what keep a warm brown from reading as a stain. Two boards side by side will differ noticeably in richness; across a whole room that is what produces the depth.

The oil finish compounds the effect. Bonded into the top fibres rather than sitting on the surface, it leaves the wood open and matte, deepens the red in the tone, and can be refreshed locally as the floor is lived on. A 9/16″ engineered core carries a 4 mm wear layer.

Oak Cuir is at home in libraries, studies, clubrooms and hospitality interiors built around leather, bronze and dark timber — and it is one of the few warm floors that holds its own beneath a genuinely dark ceiling.
