Oak Davys is cut as classical herringbone: square-ended blocks laid at right angles so each one steps off the last, building the zig-zag that has run through European interiors since the seventeenth century. Unlike chevron, herringbone blocks are not mitred — the pattern is made by the placement, which is why it carries a slightly softer, more domestic rhythm.

The colour is a light greyed oak, cool and composed, with the grey settled into the timber rather than sitting on it. Against a pattern this active, a restrained colour is what keeps the floor elegant instead of insistent.

These blocks are graded Select & Better — the calmest grade offered — and finished with a silky surface rather than a brushed one. Run a hand across it and the plane is smooth and closed; the light returns evenly, so the herringbone is read through geometry alone. A silk matte sheen keeps that reading soft.

Each block is 5″ × 25″ on a full 3/4″ engineered core with a 3 mm wear layer.
