HOW LONG TO INSTALL HARDWOOD FLOORS ?
Planning a hardwood flooring timeline is essential when working on a high-end home or architectural space. , one of the most frequently asked questions is: How long does a hardwood flooring project really take? Planning a hardwood flooring timeline is essential when working on a high-end home or architectural space.
The answer depends on several variables—including material selection, supply chain logistics, and site readiness—but understanding these elements is essential to ensuring a smooth, luxurious result.
At VOGUE Parquet®, we work closely with elite clients, designers, and developers to provide bespoke hardwood flooring, sourced exclusively from Europe and crafted to the highest standards. While we do not offer installation services, we act as trusted consultants, helping our clients map out accurate expectations for timelines and material logistics—so there are no surprises along the way. This hardwood flooring timeline gives you clarity before any installation begins.

THE THREE KEY PHASES
The Three Key Phases: Ordering, Acclimation, Installation
A properly executed hardwood flooring project unfolds in three key stages, each with its own timeline and considerations.
1. Ordering & Lead Time (1–4 Weeks)
Once you select your hardwood floor—whether a wide plank French Oak, intricate chevron pattern, or a custom-stained parquet—the first timeline to consider is production and delivery.
Because our curated selections are manufactured in Europe, lead times range from 1 to 10 weeks, depending on the finish and complexity. Pre-finished floors may take longer to arrive due to curing and protective layering, while unfinished options often ship faster.
For ultra-premium projects such as those in Armani Casa residences or Ritz-Carlton penthouses, clients often opt for floors that require special finishes or textures, which naturally extend the sourcing timeline.
2. Acclimation Period (7–10 Days)
Once the floors arrive at the site, they must undergo a climate acclimation period. Hardwood is a natural material that expands and contracts based on environmental conditions. This is especially important in climates like Miami, where heat and humidity levels fluctuate.
Proper acclimation usually requires 7 to 10 days, allowing the flooring to reach equilibrium with the space. Skipping this phase can result in shrinkage, cupping, or expansion after installation—a risk we strongly caution against. This step plays a critical role in the hardwood flooring timeline, especially in coastal climates.
3. Installation & Site Work (Varies by Project Scope)
While we do not provide installation services directly, we advise our clients and their selected installers on how to plan around typical timelines. The installation phase can span anywhere from 3 to 12+ days, depending on several variables:
• Floor Pattern – A straight plank layout may require 3–5 days, while intricate herringbone or chevron installations demand more cuts and planning.
• Subfloor Prep – Existing tile, concrete leveling, or vapor barrier installation may add 1–3 days to the process.
• Pre-Finished vs. Unfinished –
Pre-finished floors save time on-site but take longer to arrive.
Unfinished floors arrive faster but require 3–5 days of sanding, staining, and sealing post-installation.
ESTIMATED PROJECT DURATION
Estimated Project Duration by Floor Type
For a quick reference, here is an estimated timeline for 1,000 square feet or less:
Pre-Finished European Oak
Lead Time (1-4 weeks) + Acclimation (10 days) + Installation (3–5 days)
→ Total: approx. 3–4 Weeks
Unfinished European Oak
Lead Time (1–3 weeks) + Acclimation (7–10 days) + Installation + Finishing (5–10 days)
→ Total: approx. 4–6 Weeks
Note: These estimates do not include demolition, site prep, or furniture relocation.
